The EDC is the product of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Khartoum, in its commitment to improve and upgrade performance in the medical and health fields.
The idea behind establishing the centre was floated in 1973 following a workshop held at the faculty, to discuss advances and trends in medical education. It was soon recognized the importance of medical education and its leading role in keeping pace with the changes and seeking new ways and approaches to improve the performance of the faculty, and meeting societal needs. Thus started organization of training programmers for a selected members of staff who were the nucleus for the nascent centre
